Recreation and Community Facilities (RCF)
The Recreation and Community Facilities (RCF) department is a forward-facing department comprising three sub-departments: Museums, Physical Properties, and Recreation. If you need support with County buildings, museums, recreation spaces or bookings, the information below will point you in the right direction.
Who We Are
The RCF Department brings together recreation, museums, and physical properties staff who support the County’s spaces and services every day. This includes museums, parks, community centres, town halls, the Crystal Palace, and community facility buildings.
Our teams work together to keep facilities clean, safe, and running smoothly, manage bookings and events, care for recreation equipment, and deliver museum programs that connect people to local history and culture.
We are here to help. Please reach out if you are unsure where to start.

Museums
The Museums team manages five County museum sites. The team is responsible for the care of museum buildings, collections, and heritage landscapes, including historic structures, artifacts, gardens, orchards, outdoor exhibits, parkland, and an early 19th-century cemetery.
Through exhibitions, collections management, and public programming, the team preserves and shares the County’s history and culture. Museum sites also support education, research, events, and serve as unique spaces for County and community use.
